Langtang Valley with Ganja La Pass Trek
925

Overview

Commonly for the adventurous trekkers seeking to challenge their own level of audacity, Ganja-La Pass trekking is a very famous trekking destination in the Langtang Region- a narrow valley lying just below the main Himalayan range of northern Tibet. A visit to the Langtang valley offers an opportunity to explore Tibetan villages, Tamang Villages, and to climb small peaks visiting glaciers at a comfortable elevation.

Sight of impeccable work of the creator that stand tall and are formidable and yet serenely snowy peaks- Naya Kanga (5,846m), Ponggen Dopku (5,930m), Mt. Langtang Lirung (7245m), Yala peak, Dorje Lakpa(6966m), Urkeinmang(6387m), Loenpo Gang (6979) and Kangchenpo are available on this trek.

Nepal Eco Adventure organizes camping treks for this Ganja-La pass trekking. The region is scarce in lodges and hence we would request you to be will equipped with adequate eatables for this trek. Being one of the most relentless trekking spots, Ganja-La Pass gives you a sense of great achievement after you have completed the trek

After passing the Ganja-La Pass, the trail takes you to Malemchi Gaon and Tarke Ghyang. The majority of the population residing in this region are Sherpas. Buddhism being the primary religion followed by most people, one can discover several old Buddhist monasteries in the villages. Tarke Ghyang is another Sherpa, which bears its own story. The town name-Tarke Ghyang- was derived from the name of a temple that was established by a Lama (Buddhist Monk), which means “Temple of 100 Horses”. Rumor has it that the monk was invited by the King to Kathmandu to religiously cure an epidemic by building temples. In return for his contribution, the Lama asked for 100 horses, which he brought back to Tarke Ghyang. The local temple was rebuilt in 1969, following the Bhutanese architect. We will come across small Buddhist monasteries and a cheese factory which was established in 1955 by the Swiss Association.

Fine equipment and some mountaineering experience are two essential requirements to trek this route safely. If we are trekking during spring the forest along the trail is colorful and blooming with rhododendrons.
